Victoria Falls Activities
Guided Tour of the Falls
Visiting this spectacular waterfall can certainly be done on your own but it is nice to have a knowledgeable and experienced local guide to accompany you and share stories & information you wont find on the information boards.
Lunar Rainbow – 1 hour
Moonbows are formed by the light of the full moon so this activity can only be done at Full Moon. It is an unguided tour but you are chaperoned to keep you safe and included pick and drop off from your hotel.
Gorge Hike – 4 hours
The Hike begins about 20km away from the waterfalls downstream of the Victoria Falls. You will hike the steep down to the Zambezi River for a hike and then a refreshing swim before the strenuous climb our of the gorge. Once you reach the top its a short walk to an Ndebele Village where you will meet the local headsmen and villagers and have brunch in the Village while listening to stories about their traditional culture and customs.
A spectacular birds eye view of the whole Victoria Falls area, choose between a 12/13 minute flight over the falls or a 25 minute flight over the falls, gorges and rural land. Aptly named the Flight of Angels after David Livingstone described it as “scenes so lovely they must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight”.
Livingstone Island and Devils Swim
This activity is done on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls. It is an exciting and exhilarating experience swimming on the edge of the waterfall. Five trips are offered throughout the day, each trip lasting about 1.5 to 2 hrs. Morning Breezer – 07h30 | 09h00 | 10h30 | Lunch Tour – 12h30 | High Tea – 15h30.
Note that these openings are very dependent on the water level of the Zambezi River so always check which pools are open. Generally the Livingstone island tour operates from approx June til March. Closed April, May and June. The Devils swim section is only open in the middle of August till the end of December. The Angel’s Pool is open in July, and then January till March.
Classic River Safari – 3 hours
This is a very popular and more adventurous Sunset Cruise. With the boats flat bottom it is able to meander through the shallower waters where other big boats cant go so its more private and you get closer to the falls.
