Stay at Shoestring’s Back packer’s Lodge

The closest accommodation to town – as it’s pretty much in town.

A bustling little lodge with history in Vic Falls – both for locals and International travellers.  This lodge has recently been updated and offers a more refined backpacker’s experience.

Shoestrings is located a short 2km walk from the mighty Victoria Falls and focuses on providing affordable and budget friendly accommodation without compromising on comfort.

Their double, twin and family rooms are air conditioned with private bathrooms.  There is also the option of dorms with bunk beds and access to a communal bathroom.

Also available are two-bed dome tents or self catering camp sites, both with access to communal ablutions.

The Shoestrings Cafe sells breakfasts and light/main meals, including pizza made in their very own pizza oven!   The bar is open to all guests and locals to enjoy a drink and socialise.

A great little hub of the town where you can get to know the local ‘scene’ and get up-to-date with what all is on offer.  Enjoy a swim in the swimming pool at the end of a hard day’s adventure.

Standard Sunset Cruise

The standard sunset cruises are an affordable option.  They offer an opportunity to get out onto the magnificent river with other passengers on a selection of pontoons. Such a beautiful way to spend the late afternoon/evening, with the added bonus that you will see wildlife along your cruise.  Elephant, hippo, crocodile and a variety of other game and birds on the mainland and islands. The cruises all include drinks and snacks and are family friendly, a lovely experience for children. The cruises last for approximately 2 hours and a transfer (included in the price) will collect and drop you at your hotel.

Livingstone Island Morning Breezer

All visits to Livingstone Island are during the low-water season, which usually begins in mid-July and goes through to the end of January. High-water visits aren’t possible as the island is continuously covered in the spray/downpour from the Victoria Falls.

Each day in the low-water season three morning visits of 1½ hours each (giving about an hour and fifteen minutes on the island). The tours depart from the Royal Livingstone Hotel at 7:30am, 9am and 10:30am. You’ll be given a short guided tour of the island, see the Victoria Falls from the same vantage point as Livingstone did 150 years ago, and enjoy tea, coffee, soft drinks and a light snack.

Transfers from your hotel to the Royal Livingstone can be arranged at an added cost.
